How to get there

By flight

  • Pochentong International Airport is is the largest of Cambodia's two international airports. The other is located at Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor Wat.
  • Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Air Asia fly from Kuala Lumpur to Phnom Penh.
  • There are daily flights from all major regional airports like Bangkok, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Taipeh, Luang Prabang in Laos and Hanoi via Vientiane, Laos. Airlines include Bangkok Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Laos Airlines, Shanhai Airlines, Thai Airways, Silk Air and Dragon Air amongst others.
  • Taxis from the airport’s public taxi stand cost approximately USD9.

By road via busses or taxis

  • Bus services to Phnom Penh is from Poipet (on the border of Thailand) and from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Two of the largest bus companies are Sorya and GST.

By sea

  • 4 to 5 hours by ferries connecting Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. Charges for foreigners typically cost USD20-30.
  • 5 hours by morning fast boats from Chau Doc in Vietnam's Mekong Delta to Phnom Penh.

By rail

  • 14 hours once-weekly train ride from Battambang via Pursat to Phnom Penh.
